When I got in the car last evening, the washer fluid light came on immediately and has stayed on ever since.

Any ideas?

(First one to suggest I add water to the bottle is a banana.)

try spraying some wd40 on the flux capcitor... should get you back in time to a point when the light wasn't on ..

Tried that tomorrow, but it didn't work...

If under warranty then simply take it back to MB to sort out...!

Even though warning appears in MFD do the nozzels still work activate? If so then perhaps fault/warning can be cleared by simply disconnecting the battery...?

Edit: Just realised it is your W201 190E and not W211...:o

The valve in the bottom of the washer tank is stuck. Just empty the tank and remove. Take out the sensor and clean, put back together and it will be ok. Common problem.
