I don't know much about these but always loved them and yours is a nice example.

Were only the 2.3's Cosworths?

The name Cosworth came from the design of the 4 valve cylinder head whose design and development was farmed out to specialist engine developers Cosworth. In addition they had developed a unique thin wall casting method for the alloy cylinder head. Part of the problem perhaps lay with the fact the 2.3-16v model was never initially scheduled as a mass production model [ 5,000 models in total] but as demand increased Cosworth and Mercedes experienced some volume production quality issues meaning machining began to be shared between the Worchester site and Stuttgart. By the time the 2.5-16V came along Mercedes had begun to play down the Cosworth angle but although the now "stroked" 2.5 engine had undergone many detailed changes it was still basically a Cosworth design. The RHD cars had to have an elaborate tubular exhaust manifold to clear the steering box which the Germans at Stuttgart nicknamed the English Forest Horn.:p
So in answer to your question they are all Cosworths.

Ahh I wasn't aware of that! I thought it was just the 2.3's that's were honed as Cosworth. Thanks for that :thumb:
