190E Cosworth or C36/43 for track?

Toying with the idea of buying a car and modding it solely for circuit use. My only requirement is that it must be a Merc, ideally AMG. Am I better off with 190E Cosworth or C36/43? I'm just testing the water so any ideas are welcome.

Forum member JonMad has a CLK55 AMG as a track car.

A manual 190 Cosworth would be my Mercedes preference.

Generally though you see very few Mercedes at track days. Not sure why, maybe it's image or the rarity of manual gearboxes?
