Hi,

I need a new set of front shocks for my 190e, I might be able to source a set from a w124, question is will they fit my 190e?

Cheers guys.

Yes they do

Excellent, that's what i was hoping for, thanks dude!

The one`s from the 124 has to be the 4 cyl as well in order for them to work

Is it not best to fit new ones since your going to all the trouble of replacing, thats if you intend to keep the car for a while longer.

Not too expensive from Euro/GSF

new 190E owner with shocks question

Hello everyone from a new member

I just bought a 1985 190e in excellent condition that I am already in love with. I've done a bit of bodywork, cut out a smidgeon of rust (we live beach side Australia but the car comes from inland), put in new sounds... the usual new owner stuff. I got some Boge shocks for the front end, but my local mechanic (a Holden and Ford man) just said they're not needed and will be a waste of money - return them. I don't know.. money's tight after buying it, but my gut says replace - the boots are shot so the shocks must be old, and while she rides OK, I think it could be better. She's firm on a bounce test, but... any thoughts? Also, are they simple to replace?
Thanks - I'm looking forward to having some experienced owners on side (like I said, I'm in a spot where Holden is king)

If it was me and I'd already bought the shocks, I'd replace the old (26 years and counting) ones and fit new boots while you're at it. Simple job for any decent mechanic to fit (even a Holden guy). Then you can cruise down to the Byron Bay Blues Festival in absolute comfort, safe in the knowledge that your front shocks should last you another 26 years.

Keep an eye out for Aussie blues man Geoff Achison. He does gigs at Byron Bay from time to time. Outstanding guitar player and a true gentleman.

try this Front Suspension

Good forum for 190 owners- not that you're not welcome here of course.;)

Springs are best compressed with the correct MB tool made by Klann - you can sometimes hire em. Can be done with other types but space is restricted

Yeah, I'll just replace them today and start looking for a Haynes manual. Actually heard of Geoff... we're a serious blues oriented household and have been going to the Blues fest for the last couple decades (it was within walking distance, now a short drive)... my son got his musical education there, watching Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck up close and on the same stage, Dylan last year, and this year will be excellent. All Mercedes owners invited!
