No one is suggesting to scrap a car, just get a quality OE original if MB don’t have stock of the same glass with tiny symbol in the corner ! :)

MB Screens are not the best ..if its one thing they cant make it is quality glass .
TriopleX are as good if they can be found

Join the 190E Club there might be some member parting out ., ask on there
I looked the other night , there are a couple of members breaking cars , but these will always be used screens which need to be cut out and then cleaned up .

I don't think the issue is that the OP has a broken screen ; as I read it , he is restoring the car and wants a brand new , perfect screen to put in now the car has been painted . A used screen won't likely be any better than what he already has . Of course he might have done a bare-body , glass out respray , but will likely still be looking for a new screen rather than a used one .

It is worth asking on the forum , because there are some enthusiasts on there who might actually have a new screen sitting in their garage .

Also worth enquiring to the Classic Centre in Fellbach who will commission runs of otherwise unavailable classic parts where there is demand .

So a new screen will cost in the reagon of £600 so unless he is prepaired to pay this sort of cash for a new one .Then no one can help him . And even then it wont be a mercedes glass

I cant even find a fuel tank strainer for my car ,,or a new hose from the fuel tank both are NLA .So i have had to go good used second hand ..At some time or other in the future , it will be the only altenative, or garage the car and foget it . A second hand screen can be polished to look like a new one ..

My R129 screen was about double that figure , 10 years ago , but my insurers paid it after I showed them correspondence that Autoglass couldn't give a delivery date to supply one , that my MOT was due in 4 weeks , and only Mercedes-Benz could deliver one .

There were several new strainers and hoses for sale on eBay.de , which I linked to in the other thread ; mostly from parts specialists in Germany and the Netherlands , where there is much better parts availability than here .

There are two different parts ; the early screen is for cars from 83-84 , and then another part for cars from 85-93 , but several suppliers offering each .

If you don't know German , just paste Windschutzscheibe für Mercedes W201/190 LIM into the search field in eBay.de and you will see plenty for sale . Some suppliers may ship to the UK , others may not , and they vary widely in price .

This supplier offering screens in different tints and with or without sunstrip along the top

Not sure if it’s just me, but if the OP is keen on originality - those screens all seem to have a small window banding cutout at the bottom for the visible VIN. Don’t think this would be correct for originality (which seems to be the whole point of this exercise! :))

Nope , I don't think that would be correct for a 190 , I can't even recollect seeing that on my K reg 190LE , which I know still had the VIN plate on the landing panel , as well as stamped into the chassis leg . Besides , in those photos the window is on the wrong side , unless LHD cars have it on the other side ?

I think , most likely , those are just generic images , indicative only of the different tints etc that they offer , and not an actual picture of a 190 windscreen .
