Always wanted one of these and at about 10K it looks very tempting indeed. You'd have to check the condition but hard to see how you can go wrong at this price, provided the chassis isn't a complete basket case and the all the chrome is there. It says it's been in a private collection since 1975 so it's probably in fairly good nick underneath.
I don't have the time or space for it at the moment. Maybe another forum member does? Could be 30K+ once restored.

There were 2 like this at a garage near ne last yr. Identical, yet one £30k, another £45k; the difference?

One had a plate 190 SL.

I still dream...

I think I remember the one with the plate '190 SL'. It was white wasn't it?
Sold for £30K at auction if I remember correctly.

Whilst they look good they are NOTHING in the driving stakes, and the engine set up is very mediocre.

A Pagoda is a far better and more practical buy.

Neither the 190SL or the Pagoda are going to be up to much in the driving stakes but that's not really the point is it? This is automotive art.

Maybe the answer is to buy it and fit the running gear from a C180 or something?

I remember seeing this one go through, but in my memory it was red....but then again it could have been white:p...was very nice though!

The 190 SL currently on display in MBWorld on the ground floor is the current registered vehicle for the reg number 190 SL.However this plate was originally on another 190, but the current owner bought the registration and transferred it onto his recently restored 190.

Just checked the DVLA..

The vehicle details for 190 SL are:

Date of Liability 01 10 2009
Date of First Registration 01 06 2001
Year of Manufacture 1958
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1897CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
Vehicle Colour CREAM
Vehicle Type Approval null

I wonder if the one at MBWorld has a the actual plate or just a show plate?

All cars on display at MBWorld have their plates covered, the reason I know about the 190 there is I know the owner.

It was white/ cream. It is likely to have been restored as it was at Silchester Harage who specialise in stripping mercs (amongst others) bare, and rebuilding from scratch.

If I ever have 5 mins spare (rare with an 18 month old) I stop by and drool through their window.

No, really the Pagoda is a very usable car in today's traffic - not so the 190.
