Hello Everyone,
I have a very lovely W115, almost rust free and I've had it 7 years and 600 miles but the engine & box were crap and are now shagged, can I do a straight swap from a W123 donor car (not that I've got one!) as I loved the 200 & 230 I had and I have a feeling I can pick up a rusty car cheaply?! Thanks for your help!
This is the car:

Sorry I can't help you but thats a beautiful car! I hope you find what you need to get / keep her running.

The W123 only used the M115 until 1980 in both the 2.0 and 2.3.. You could also transplant a later M102 engine and box, but you would need to stick to the carb models as otherwise wiring gets very complicated...

Oh and welcome to the forum!! p.s. I love the M115 engine... its so nice and simple..

welcome to the forum Torsten seeing as the rest of the miserable so and so's did not say it

i cheated, i edited my post after i saw your comment so save your glasses money and spend it on a mod ;)

Torsen, there should be plenty of W115s for sale with good engines and rusty bodies to do a like for like swap. Why make things complicated by going down the W123 route?

The M115 is a troublesome engine to run and tune... its inefficient and not especially powerful... i would take this opportunity as a blessing and go for a M102.

i agree, sounds like the best 1st choice option. i'd only consider a 123 if you cant find the right 115 donor

Those pics remind me of my Dad's 1973 280E which eventually died in 1990 at the hands of a white van. Black paintwork, cream MB Tex, 8 track ICE...

What a cracking Q car it was - I was allowed to drive it! I liked the old fashioned steering wheel best.
