1983 'A' Reg W123. Seven month M.O.T. remaining, but no tax. There are MOT certificates dating back to 2001. Mileage is 152,500.
As some of you know, I bought this car on a bit of a whim as a restoration project, but my other project (W202 C36) is now sucking up funds quicker than I'd like, and I am running out of space, hence the reason for sale.
The issues that I've found (which aren't bad for a twenty-nine year old car) are;
Slight blow on the exhaust, only the drivers window & sunroof work (you can hear the motor trying to move), the electric n/s mirror only moves up and down, the drivers door doesn't close as 'Mercedes-like' as the passenger door (seems to have slightly dropped) I intended to have the exterior paintwork resprayed and any oxidisation removed, but it's by no means bad, you could leave it as is and enjoy the car. The n/s bonnet hinge needs replacing, it's slightly bent which means that the bonnet doesn't sit flush with the wing. The n/s front wing has been sprayed to a standard not befitting such a fine car.
The positives are as follows; it starts up fine, every blower setting works, as does the heater, the gearbox is as smooth as you'd expect, the kickdown works showing a quick turn of pace. The interior is very clean for its age, there is some slight wear on the drivers lumbar though. I'm told it had a 70k engine fitted not so long ago and they had to remove the bonnet to fit, hence the bent hinge.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
I've advertised the car on Car & Classic for £1495 Ono and would discount the car to someone that is looking to restore it.
