1987 190e amg 6.0 v8

That car is..............lovely.Ps:I think is the DADDY lol

Gentlemen...

I ran the VIN and it started life as a Canadian delivery 190E 2.3 16V
It's had a color change from new.

There were Canadian delivery cars that were then sent to AMG Westmont in Illinois.

What I haven't seen in the pix are any AMG stickers.
They usually are in the engine bay.

I need to look again at the pix as AMG typically marked the cylinder heads.
Appears to be a 16V engine which is easier to maintain the the unique 32V engine.

Looks like a neat install...

I'm going to contact the seller to get more info !

I bet thats a handfull! Is that an oil cooler for the diff? Don't see many of those.:)

Nick:Look`s like a convertion mate!If you look at the speedo,it says max 200kmh or 125 mph.That`s not what a 6L can achive

I think this car has been discussed widely previously on benzworld. One collector has given a good decription of its past and the conversion.

This W201 is (was) London based.

It looks much better in the flesh than it does in Photos!

It really is a fantastic piece of engineering.

The car in the original link is now in Atlanta GA (USA)....I believe it is owned by a gentleman up in the NE who may be a member of some of the US MB boards. It is being refurbished at Blueridge MB, by the same guy (Jono) that is putting the final touches on my 5.6L 190e. He said the work on the 6.0 was kind of rough, and that a lot is going to need to be done to it. Not sure if the owner minds photos of his car on the interwebs, but I'm headed up there probably in a few weeks to check on my car, so I'll report on what I see. Pretty cool car anyway!

Little (delayed) update....

Saw the "6.0" several weekends back in person, and I'd have to say it is currently in a pretty sorry state. Looks like it had been very neglected by the previous owner, and the exterior was certainly rough as well. That said, it is in good hands and I got to take a peek at the 6.0 block torn down. IIRC replaceable items had been sourced and it was on its way to being put back together. I didn't do a very thorough inspection, but Jono's (owner/mastermind of the shop) comments hinted that the conversion had been pretty rough. I will try and snap some pics next time I am there, along with some of my 5.6L 190e that is sharing shop space.......maybe the 6.0 will be in a better state next time I see her as well.
