1989 500 SL for 100k anyone?

Hexagon are always pretty bullish on prices but seem to achieve it for the best cars. Assuming this has been recommissioned and has a new soft top (I can't see the original being of much use after all those years) I'm sure they'll get that price or close to it - look at the prices for the best 107s on the SL Shop's site (a restored 300 for £100k and a 5,000 mile 420 for £79k) and other leading specialists

Personally I'd rather have a low mileage, mint SL60 and an accompanying SL600, but I just prefer the R129s

The interesting thing about that 107 is that it was registered in November 1989 ... which is a month after the R129 came out. So I suspect the buyer got a good discount :D

That SL has been sold a few times recently. Few years back SL Shop had it up for £50k, along with the IDENTICAL spec car that the bloke who bought both new had. He used one to death and had this one in his dining room (IIRC he was a farmer). The other one went for parts at around £2k.

Prices have been on the rise in general for 107's, but I think this one is very much a one off so the price isn't really comparable.

Someone with enough money will want it enough to pay close I bet - long term its an investment for sure.
