hi

my 1990 230E saloon has failed the NCT ( MOT) for primary structure corrosion on both rear subframe mounts :(:(.

I have attached a pic of the affected area ( not my car ) and was wondering if these brackets are available or repairable.

thanks in advance

brendan

I do seem to recall that somebody in Germany was/is making them but despite no end of searching can I find the reference.

I found a reference to part numbers for an estate ( web site entry 2012 ) and was wondering if they are the same ?

"The box section for the 124 rear front subframe mounts is A124 611 11 47

The actual mount which the subframe bolts into is part number A201 611 00 11 "

Mine had the same a few years ago. Good local welder fixed it up and had no problem since. I think there is a repair panel but not strictly necessary as it is pretty easy to make up. Might be worth changing subframe bushes at the same time? Or scrap it and get a vectra.

this can be repaired.

the repair panels are no longer available.

any good welder can fix this. i've done 3 now for MOT repairs. If you are lucky you can drop the subframe enough to be able to build up a repair box section in situ. You will of course need new rubber mounts too and fabricate a modified bolt assembly for the mount. you could possible re-use the actual bolt if its non rusty.

maybe of use:
