1992 r129 500sl driver side electric window fault

Hi, hope someone can help me.

I've just recently bought this 92 500sl, yesterday without warning the drivers side window simply refused to come down, its worked for the first month of ownership, as has the soft top.
Now the window won't lower & the soft top just comes up halfway & stops ! Presumably it knows the window hasn't gone down first ?

Anyone had this before or similar ? The fuses are fine, power is going through the fuses & I can hear a relay clicking as I move the switch either up or down position.

You are correct, for the roof to work it needs to know window position, from your symptom's it sounds like you may need look at the window regulator or motor...

Yes, I was thinking along the lines if the motor, I'll have to whip off the door card & see if 12 volts is making that far when I operate the switch.
