Hi,
my s500 has a few problems and I need some pointers to get me started.
1. Starts fine from cold/hot but tickover is quite erratic - rising, falling, steady for a bit then dropping, rising in a kind of random fashion. Some days it's worse than others.
2. If I drive it for a couple of miles, stop it then try to start after a couple of minutes, the tickover is really bad (very low revs but still some 'searching' up and down of the revs. When I put it into gear, it almost kangaroos (happens in reverse too) and needs a firm push on the brakes to stop it. For a few miles it might stall at any time but when pulling off from a junction it's usually at its worst as it lets me get out into the road before stalling (dangerous!)
3. When pulling up slowly to a roundabout or junction (hot or cold) the car doesn't want to stop. It feels like there is a slight surge of unwanted power, like the above kangarooing almost.
4. On the motorway, it pulls quite well, but there is definitely some sort of mild misfire/lumpiness as it is not its usual smooth self.
I'm thinking that these problems are all related to incorrect signals getting to (or from) the ECU therefore wrong air/fuel mixture/revs at low/zero speeds.
The car is running on lpg but the problem is identical on fuel and gas, so an electrical issue - but what could it be?
Could anyone give me a list to check through?!
Thanks
Kieron
