Still cannot decide on the indicators - orange or white
?????????????????
orange = original
It needs a new radio mast, (debating with myself wether to fix the old one and save £100) and there is slight bubbling, (Oh dear, bugger), around the radio mast hole, (not really worth messing with yet!)
Apart from that rust is very minor and down to the odd stone chip that has spider-ed a little.
The n/s front wing has been replaced and /or repainted - there is a slight shade difference - although when I tested it with my newly acquired "paint gauge" it has been painted to a very similar micron thickness to the rest of the car...so done at a good body shop
The inside is really really good and all the usual stuff works except for the AC being "not too cold"
The engine bay needs a bit of a clean, but the underneath is really good.
Oh, and finally, at 117,000 miles it drives like a "new car"
just incredible value for money!
what happened to the ruby red baby?
um.. fix up the lil issues and enjoy value appreciation driving for every mile..
when did you get it?
its very nice..
some more pics would be great to see.
and defo Orange indicators.... i know you prefer the clears, but orange seem to just be the finishing touch to this car, whilst the clear ones look tooo blunt etc.. each to their own!
Morning DV, the Ruby Red one, (Almandine Red Metallic - 512?), is not me although I have a TE in that colour.
Please remember that photos always make the car look good.......OK is it very clean and I have spent a good few hours on it getting it as good as I can make it.............but it is not like your stuff, (e.g. your W124 Cab), as all the Mercs that I buy and enjoy are in the £2,000 to £4,000 price bracket.
I like to "moderately" work on them, (they are always worst that on first inspection), until I have done what I feel is needed, I enjoy driving them but like to move to another after a few months.
It gives me pleasure to "sort" a W124 and then pass it on to the next owner.......hoping that it will not end up the way of many W124s these days, (i.e. being scrapped or broken).
The age "problems" are now well know and do not bother me as they can be fixed relatively cheaply if you do as much work yourself as you can and keep away from the main Dealers.
I do, however, fancy a 560SEC, and I have seen a few nice ones around for little money.................and then one day a W124 Cab will come my way?
But I cannot see me ever deserting the W124s as I feel that not only are they one of the best Mercs ever, tbut hey are also one of the best modern classics that can be owned and used on a regular basis for very little money
Cheers

I agree. Love the colour, Bill - is it pearl or diamond blue?
Very nice looking car Bill.
I'd keep the orange lights. They look cool and suit the car.
(IMHO clear indicators are almost as bad as Lexus rear lights... )
Thanks for the comments - I remember you Pearl Estate - how is your A Classe?
