Hi all,

Well, I have discovered that the above has failed in my car (over at a garage having some diags done at the moment).

Have had a look on eBay and can only see 1 on there at the moment and that is faulty.

Anyone know where I can get one at a sensible price? Does not need to be new - used is fine so long as it works.

Part number needed is 1298203226.

Thanks in advance for any pointers / help.

Regards

You have PM

Hi again,

Or does anywhere know of where they can be repaired?

I have seen info on BBA Reman, however their website appears dead...

Thanks in advance.

your best bet is ebay and sl w129 breakers is your probably the best bet

Call Carl, he might have one OR be getting stock...he breaks R129's and sorted me out last year, all roof control module units are tested prior to shipping:thumb:...I explored the repair route with BBA, it seemed expensive. Unit from MB is around £1k...if Carl has none also worth trying SL shop, links below.

Thanks for the pointers.

Have given Carl a call - he's out at the moment but they will get him to give me a shout when he's back later. Part number provided.

I gave the SL Shop a call yesterday but they don't currently do the repairs on the modules - coming soon.

Will advise what Carl comes back with.

Thanks.

The details of the guy that I PM'd you with does all of the electrical repairs for the SL shop :thumb:

If this is Tony?, I got a quote for repair last year, was circa £650 dependent on UK location...I ended up with a unit from Carl:thumb:

Alas, Carl doesn't have any :(

Have contacted a ton of Mercedes breakers I found tonight to see what they can come back with as another option.

I've got a 129 820 00 97 which may work, depending on your VIN number.

Unfortunately that Roof module is from early SL R129 MY1990 > 1993 and would not be compatible for the op.

Hi all,

Well, some good news and some bad.

The replacement module has now been purchased, arrived at the garage Friday, fitted and roof now moves again.

And then they found that both electric window motors are also shot - the sensor that detects where the window is is fried in both, so the roof won't lock in as it doesn't know it's at the end of the sequence and the windows no longer drop on door opening.

I am waiting for the part numbers from them so I can get on the hunt for those now. It's the one with the sensors built into the motor I've been told, so the older ones don't work but I don't want to order anything from anywhere until they have confirmed from the current ones.

Sigh...

Hi all,

Quick update for those that are interested.

Took a long time, but I finally got the motors sorted (drivers side one came from Sacramento!).

Then there was a problem with one of the rear catches not engaging which has been sorted.

Now there's a problem with one of the front catches.

It just goes on.

Not had the car for 7 or 8 weeks now.

Really does put me off another electric roofed car. My MR2 with the removal glass t-bar panels is much easier and never goes wrong!

Do you still have the roof controller available 129 820 00 97?

I have just acquired a 91 500SL and the controller is shot. I can utilise BBA Reman, but I'm looking for options.

cheers

Phil

Billy / Phil,

Yes I still have it.

Where are you based?
