Hi all,

Having trouble understanding what the original colour of my car is.

Here it is

Any suggestions?

Are the panels a different colour to the body?

Many thanks

Adil

Possibly pearl grey but quite hard to tell from picture

This cars colour has always alluded me.

Is there a way to find out the original colour of the car from MB or online?

Perhaps a build sheet?

colour code is part of chassis no google it and u will find exactly how

It's bl00dy beautiful that's what it is.

If you take a picture of the screwed plate by the bonnet latch, the one with the square holes punched it, I should be able to tell you exactly what it is....

I think that's quartz blue metallic 935 its not original! often found on the later W208 CLK

Whatever colour it is, it looks great on a C124. The wheels go well with it too.
Looks really modern.

Thanks all,

It's going through some changes at the moment - them wheels are also for sale.

Chassis no is 1240422C272924.

Can anyone decode for paint code and name? Need to know what colour the plastic panels are.

Best,

adil

Paint code given against that chassis no is 199 Blue black. As I hinted before your paint is probably not original

ps if the colour is Quartz Blue metallic then the body trim colour is 5224 Blue Quartz Matt metallic

Thanks for this.

Did not take on board it has been resprayed.

Will use the colour codes suggested.

Subsequent work will not emphasise retaining originality in this case.

What a shame.

I suggest you take the car to a local paint shop who provide paint mixing facilities. They should be able to colour match your car trim colour for you from their colour swatches and produce a large Custom aerosol can for you for around £15. Quite often the trim colour is the same as the main car body but with a little matting agent added to give a matt finish.
Don't rely on my colour suggestion as without seeing the actual car in daylight in front of you its impossible to get a true idea of the colour from a picture on line . Its the closest I could suggest but may not be correct. :dk:

Thanks yet again Grober,

Have instructed the paint shop to identify colour using the supplying paint shop covering their travel expenses.

Put the wheel details up please.

Hi

Will PM details to you in due course.

They are with the painter so will need to visit him possibly over the weekend.

Thanks all,

Had a paint shop colour match the paint from the old wings.

Am happy so far!

The cars looking great :thumb:

It looks like 172 Anthracite Grey to me

If it is then the correct lower body colour for a two tone car would be colour 7176 or just 176. These two would give MB colour combination #300008.

All done!
