1997 R129 - are brake pad retaining pins really discontinued already?

Hi,

I've tried to purchase via the main eBay vendors, Eurocarparts and finally the main dealer the two pins that hold the front calliper pads in place.

None main dealer parts are for the later 1998 onwards cars fitted with larger front discs. So useless for my car.

The main dealer described the parts as "greyed out" on his parts database. He believed they are discontinued.

Surely on an 18 year old car such a commonly replaced part can't be discontinued already.

Can anyone advise?

Delphi do a kit of the pins and pad retainers, I get it through Allparts.

doesnt sound right at all, it may come as part of a fitting kit or something.

I guess yours is a 129.063?

Dowel Pin :

Spring Clip :

Dowel pins are around £10 each and spring clips are around £5 each.

Tell your local parts department to stop being so lazy. These parts are common across R129, W124, W202 and W201.

So, armed with the information supplied by V12 I will challenge the dealer tomorrow!
