Posting on behalf of a friend looking to move his 1997 SL500 onto a new owner. It has just ticked through 128,000 miles.
The good bits : The car is a green black / mushroom m119, 5 speed SL500 with panoramic roof. It has never failed an MOT and runs very sweetly indeed, everything works and the softtop is in good condition with no cracked windows. Full (good) service history and recent new brakes and pads all round, full service Inc plugs etc. Interior in very clean condition with no splitting or marks etc, wind deflector present, toolkit, 2 keys. Good Pirellis all round.
The bad bits : I've inspected the car for him and it needs lower arms (slightly graunching on the offside at full lock), new cats (slight rattle) and there is surface corrosion on 3 of the wings, although this is definitely not worse than just surface. It is also showing one or two battle scars/scuffs from time in London. Nothing major.
He is asking 7500 as is, or 8500 with the new lower arms and new cats (I will do the work for him / the new owner and use Lemforder parts etc - no cheap nonsense). I think this is a very fair price given the year, engine/gearbox and panoramic top.
