Hi hope someone can help?
A friend of mine as been told that in order to replace his corroded brake lines they will have to drop the rear axle, is this really necessary?

Yes.

The are fitted to the body prior to everything else being bolted on so to refit they all need to come off again.

Often the fuel tank as well on some cars.

You could route them elsewhere but the MOT inspector may not approve.
