Lots of history
159k miles
12 months MOT
A friend of mine owned this for over around 7 years, I would regularly ask for first refusal if he thought about selling. I have a C36 Saloon, but having 3 dogs is a little awkward if we are going out anywhere, the estate C43 would be ideal.
The engine is strong with no untoward rattles or knocks, as with many well maintained high mile Mercedes, they still drive like they are sub 100k.
As we know, the mid to late 90's (and later some would argue) were not a particularly good time for Mercedes quality, and C Class were no exception. Can they rust, often hidden by the side skirts. You just have to look at the MOT history of any mid 90's onwards Mercedes (assuming the seller has not hidden the registration), while this C43 has had restorative works over the past, my friend was always of the mind to get work done before it became an issue. Just a look at the MOT history, there has never been an advisory for corrosion, let alone a failure!
It's previously had the sills replaced and small section of the front floor on both sides. When I bought it, it needed the drop down panel behind the O/S rear wheel. it could have been patched, but Mercedes still make the panel and I prefer it to be right.
Gearbox and Torque Converter were rebuilt in 2020
Last Service also had OE discs and pads.
Lots of history and receipts (I totted up over £12k then gave up)
Correct 17" Monoblocks/Style II, with polished lip & continental tyres.
Full size correct spare wheel.
Steering wheel retrimmed by Royal Steering Wheels (due back next week, will update images when fitted)
Recent new battery
New upper suspension arms (lower were replaced last year) and yes, the MOT initially failed as I left a shock absorber bolt a bit lose when the suspension was being nipped up after settling!
Bodily it is presentable and shines. The front wings were replaced a couple of years ago.
Fitted with period Mercedes Sat Nav, these were £2k option in the day, and it still works.

So why am I selling after mythering him for so long?
Ideas germinate and the plan of having a C Class AMG for days out with the dogs, turned into a dedicated car for the dogs and shock horror... runs to the tip. My wife and I both have company cars, which vacuming Beagle hairs out of every other day is a pain. I'm too precious to do that to the S202, so i've bought a S203 C55 AMG.
The last image is from 2017, when my C36 and the C43 were part of a 50 year anniversary of AMG, held at Mercdes Benz HQ
One of my plans, was to upgrade it to E55/CLK55 engine. (not that there is anything wrong with the current C43 engine, quite the contrary, it is excellent fettle), I previously owned a C43/55 Saloon and it was a hoot and wanted to do the same with the C43 Estate. I do have a 5.4Ltr from a W208 CLK55, which is the easiest swop as the sump is the same as the W202/S202 C43. This engine is available for an extra £1500 (including gaskets, sensors and engine mountings I had been collecting)
