Sprinter 312
Hi I have a 1999 312D 4x4 Sprinter with centre diff & rear diff locks, and I would like to change (or have changed) the gear ratios to allow me to cruise at 70-80mph.

Currently it has very low gearing (never use 1st on road) which is great off road but very slow on the road.

I would like to change the centre diff for one with low range and thus up lift the normal range gearing.

Can anyone advise on the best way to do this?

Should I change the centre diff for one of the newer units? ZG3?

I'm assuming the drive shafts between the main gearbox and the centre diff would als need to be changed.

I have contacted my local Merc Commercial dealer in Bristol, but they have been of little help. I guess they are more interested in selling vans rather than parts.

Any help greatfully received, as I'm starting to run out of options.

Hi ya, would any of the parts off the ssangyong musso fit the sprinter because you can pick them quite cheap

If its not a totally silly question, it is in high range isn't it?
