1999 W202 Cigarette lighter

Hello

Does anyone if the cigarette lighter in a 1999 W202 can be used as a 12v power supply mine doesnt work I have checked the fuse and it is all OK also replaced 15amp fuse with a new one.
Changed the ashtray and socket with a guaranteed used part and still does not work.

The charger leads I have tried definitely work as I have tried them in my wifes car but seem a little loose when plugged in to the W202 OEM cigarette socket.

Any help appreciated

For the cigarette lighter to work, ignition needs to be at position 1, (radio on).
Would it light a cigarette with the element?

Yes tried with radio on and ignition on and no joy, probably used part is defective or wiring problem?

There 2 live wires going in the back of the lighter, one is to power the cigarette lighter, the other is for the bulb that illuminates the ashtray when outside light are on.

You really need a 12v circuit tester to check the centre of the cigar lighter for power with ignition on.
Its common for them to get very corroded resulting in a bad contact in the centre of the lighter.

The fuse is number 23, maybe someone put the fuse back in the wrong slot when checking the fuse.
