Had my first m.o.t since buying my car. Didnt expect too much to be wrong from a 2002 with fmsh. I needed a new drivers seatbelt, handbrake adjustment and as my keyless entry on the drivers side wasn't working, thought i'd replace that......£670! and the keyless doesn't work till i get the wiring in the door sorted which was corroded for another £150.

And i thought my nissan was expensive:eek:

Thank god there was nothing really wrong with it. This was an independant merc specialist too. Wonder how much i would've spent in the dealer!

What did you expect from your first MOT since 2002.

Surely the keyless entry isn't an MOT item unless the door cannot be opened once unlocked.

Ha! my 22 year old MR2 passed it's MOT with no advisories last weekend...

Both my old crocks (22 and 20 yrs) have been trough this years test collecting one advisory between them, for a track rod end rubber cover being worn.

Ouch. When I ran older cars I'd always get nervous about the impending bill, but a rotting Micra that needed binned apart, nothing was ever that bad.

My old 300TD just had the odd linkage or brake pipe to be sorted and the Lancer Evo I ran at about the same time just sailed through year after year.
