So I thought I would start a tread about my new car.

I have owned several BMWs(320i, 323i,330i,335d) before buying the C63 and Merc feels far more refined than the BMWs.

I was afraid that buying the C63 would feel too close to the 335d but the C63 is twice the car. I know it is not like for like in terms of performance/Handling but I am referring to the quality/interior/feel/looks.... Its the small things that I notice...like when you stop and jump out of the bmw to grab something out of the boot it remains locked and you have to jump back in a hit the central locking button to open the boot whereas the C63 lets you open the boot. Everytime you get into the BMW and it start raining you have you manually turn on the automatic wipers but if you stop again you have to turn them on again. Why not just leave them on all the time like the Merc? My 335d is a prefacelift but even a facelift 3 series interior is far, far behind the facelift W204. I am sure you can code your BMW or mod it to do these things but the Merc seems to have met expectations 1st time.

The only niggle I've had with the car so far is a creaking noise from the button panel under the heater controls. I have a good level of mechanical skills so after 10 minutes on google I stripped the dash down, put a little silicone spray on it, reassembled and the creek is gone. I know the car is still under warranty but my nearest dealer is over an hour away and the hassle of taking time off work to take it there, etc and collect it was more hassle than it was worth. And i like fixing things myself.

So in terms of performance i don't really need to tell you guys on here that it is sublime. I love the noise from cold start up....sometimes it is slightly more muted than i would like but not enough for me to go modifying the exhaust. I came from a 7.4lt V8 Mustang with side exhausts and it had one foot in the "Too Loud territory". I like that i can blend in with the C63 and when it suits me i can floor it and make noise. The mustang screamed attention everywhere you went but the C63 is more civilised when it needs to be. I guess the car suits me far better. I can jump in it whenever I want, go wherever I want, park wherever I want, etc...This was not possible in the mustang.

I still have the 335D and am using it during the day now....So i am jumping between the two and can compare them. The 335D sounds like a tractor and it being the only diesel car I have ever owned it is now also the last. The drive is a lot hard in the C63(PPP with 19"s) but it feels very planted on the road, body roll is minimal and it gives me a little too much confidence for my driving skills.

So I reset the trip computer when i picked it up and checked it 1 week later. According to my car i spent just under 25 hours in the driving seat which surprised me but that included a 300 mile/7 hour road trip up the coast.

On the motorway I am getting mid 20s, not sure what town driving is giving me but 18mpg average is fantastic......If you consider the mustang returned an average of about 6-8mpg.

So the only thing i plan to do is put a new set of boots on the car then i am off on a 2,800 mile road trip across Europe in 2 weeks.....To say I am excited about this is a massive understatement.

You made the right choice with the C63

I find the opposite with Merc and BMW and prefer the BMW interior and all the functions and idrive is much better and easier to use than the Merc.

I agree with you, if only you could get that 6.2 V8 squeezed into the BMW!

Care to share any links regarding said issue?
I've had the same since picking my 2011 PPP car up a couple of weeks ago.
Mine is under warranty for 2 years aswell but I'd be happy to fix this myself with the right direction.

Congrats on your purchase - you chose wisely!!

Thanks..I have been looking to get into a C63 for about two years and delighted I went ahead.

Here are the two links which i found very useful.

2009-C230 Inerior Noises and Panel Flex Sounds - Mercedes-Benz Forum

The only thing that nearly caught me out were the screws that secure the Media controls in place. You have to loosen then off half way ONLY, then pull them upwards. I think it is step 16 in that first link.

Cracking car. Maybe a tad harsh to compare with a 335derv, the v8 m3 would be better hehe.

Thanks, will have a look into those.

I'd agree here on the W204 but the W205 knocks it out of the park. I'm going to one of those from a F30 335d xDrive.

The BMW is probably about the perfect all rounder though. Good performance, great fuel economy and comfortable or firm suspension (with adjustable suspension).

However I don't want good performance anymore, I want stellar performance. Not a huge fan of the bigger cars as did look at an M5 so C64 seems to be about as quick as you can go in this size of car. I have kids so anything 2 seater isn't an option. I guess if I get to the point that a C63 isn't quick enough I'd have to move to an E63 or M5 car. I'm hopeful that won't happen :)

I've got an F10 M5 and Biturbo E63 and compare them constantly.

The Merc has the nicer drive and the M5 has the nicer feeling inside and more comfortable.

Only thing I've found I prefer in my BMW is the comfort of the seats. The c63 seats are great looking, much nicer than BMW, but I find the deep lumbar supports can be uncomfortable after a while. Then again, they weren't designed with my body size in mind!

Actually....now you mention it I also noted that the seats are a bit limited.

I find i can't fit my shoulders into them. So i end up rolling my shoulders forward a bit. In saying that I spent 7 hours in the car last Saturday and never felt sore/stiff from it. And they could be a tony bit lower but this is me being very picky.

One other odd thing i noticed with my car at the weekend.........

I was cleaning the exhaust tips when the car was cold and I couldn't help think that the tips were not sticking out past the rear diffuser enough...I could hardly see the AMG logo on them....But then after a spirited drive i noticed that they had extended by at least 1/2". I know exhausts expand with heat but didn't think you would get quiet so much with the car. (queue jokes about my car getting excited)

So i copied this post from another thread as I am unsure whether my car has a LSD.

I have a 2012 build C63. according to the data card it has the following options

P30 AMG Performance Package Plus
923 Increased Power Version
U70 Red Brake Calipers
U47 Carbon Fiber Boot-lid Spoiler.

I also have the alcantara steering wheel but no mention of option 471 which is the LSD.

I have the two piece disks.

I carried out the manual test for the LSD and got this result.

Looks like the diff locks but then releases after a bit. Got the same result twice in a row.

Really, looks more like both wheels spin until you steer to the right and then the inside spins up while the outside finds grips.

Love this car

LSD is an additional option on the facelift PP. Most I've seen don't have them!! Also I believe the MD diff is only 25% lock, so better off with a Wavetrac or Quaife.
