2.3-16v Cosworth........buying advice?

Hello people,

I'm possibly in the position to buy a 2.3-16v from someone on another forum at a good price (5sp dog leg, smoke silver, bilsteins, 17in AMG's), I've been trying to read as much as possible about these but was wondering if anyone could provide some key pointers to look for and check when I view the car.....?

I believe it's on a 'D' plate with about 170k on the clock...

apparently the one I'm looking at has a dodgy 'lap timer' - can these be repaired/replaced at all??

Digital stop watch!

The 16v 190's had an additional central console with analogue voltmeter, analogue engine oil temperature gauge and digital stop watch. I expect this is what he means by "LAP TIMER" dont know if these are still available from Mercedes, otherwise a good breaker might have one. Not exactly necessary but if you want originality! see the pic below.
