hi,
currently in the process of sourcing and buying a 190e 2.3-16 and as I've yet to drive one or even hear one, I was just wondering what they sound like when rung out? The ones which compete in the Berg cup have mental induction noise and was wondering if this applies tho the road model??

Cheers.

they don't sound that bad but there's a huge difference between a UK road going version and the Berg cup ones.

that difference is Throttle Bodies!!

I had them on my last Mk2 Golf, and they are going on my current V6 engine, think of them like a modern day twin 40s equivalent and you have some idea of
a) the induction rear (which is immense at 8000 rpm)
b) the power increase.

I would never own a car with a turbo/ super charger by preference, throttle bodies are just sooooooo much nicer.

To increase induction noise on the 2.3 cossie you could always fork out for a throttle body setup, total cost around £2-£3,000 it's not cheap, Jenvy do a kit I think, then you've got mapping ontop of that. Oh and there's not much point unless you have cams and flow the head first.

Alternatively stick with cone filter and that's about as far as your induction noise can go.
Hope this helps.
