Hello, happy Christmas.

I found these Carlsson CR1/11 20" wheels in my late father in laws garage hidden under various things, he was a fast Merc fan and had various AMG mercs new back in the 80s 90s and 2000s.

I found the invoice for them plus the Carlsson ECU tuning and Carlsson sports exhaust etc in the car filing cabinet for £5,290, this is over £8,520 on the BoE inflation calculator, I bet my mother in law didn't know!

The alloys are shiny but the outer edge/rims (and centre caps) are tatty, see pics. They seem to say 9.5Jx20H2 ET55 on the back.

The tyres (worn) are Continental Crosscontact ultra high performance size 295/40 ZR20.

Although pretty attractive wheels we dont need or want them, my question is do we have them refurbished or sell them as is so someone else can refurb them/custom colour etc, it seems to be circa £150 a wheel? They are on the W Sussex/Surrey border.

They were off his Mercedes ML, would they fit a contemporary estate car like an E300 etc with lower profile tyres, my knowledge of alloy sizes and offsets is basic to say the least!?

Cheers

Kind Regards
Edward

Sell as is, and price accordingly, you might shell out for a refurb and still not sell um. As think it would be a very limited market for those. Imo. 🙂

The tyres look as though the date stamp is 2009, the receipt is from 2007 though. Either way, even if they have any tread left at all, they should go in the bin. So your basically selling a set of wheels only that need a full refurbish.

Sell as is in my view

The eventual buyer might want a different finish or even colour to what you choose anyway.

You could leave the tyres on purely for some protection for the wheels, though they will add to shipping cost

Ooh is that a vintage Holdsworth I spy in the background? I’ve got a vintage Gazelle.

Thank you, yes the tyres are knackered! Just the alloys for sale really.

Sounds like best to sell as is as you guys say

Yes you are right, a Holdswotth racing bike, I found the invoice for that too. He kept everything!
Fantastic! If you ever sell it, don’t let it go for peanuts as Eroica compliant bikes are always worth something (Eroica is a series of vintage cycle sportIves using pre-1987 bikes). The Holdsworth looks like it’s from around 1980? Be interesting to know what it is!

Thank you, I'll have to dig out the invoice! I have a photo but where... I think you're right re 1980 ish from memory as I remember thinking it was around d the time I was born (82). We may sell it, I'll ask my wife.

Carlsson CR1/11 20" Alloys x4 AMG BRABUS Mercedes-Benz ML Continental 295/40zr20 | eBay

We've taken the plunge and are going to clear out the garage and make space. I've washed them but selling as is so that buyers can refurb as they like.

We have been quoted £440 + VAT to refurb them by Kamil at the excellent First Aid Wheels Alloy Wheel Repair & Refurbishment in London by First Aid Wheels in London as a guide and he says would take 3-4 days.

The numbers inside say 9.5J 20 and ET55.

Best wishes Edward
