2000 miles 2 litres of 10/40 !

Hello all,

I had the old girl serviced 2000 miles ago and today the oil level warning light comes on?

I pulled up outside a local bp and looked at the dipsick!
She was way below the bottem of mimimum?
I ended up putting around 2 litres back in to bring her up to max.

Any idea why shes used so much oil?

p.s. she doesnt have an undertray so I would have noticed leaks, I think?

Did you make sure the oil was at the full mark after the service?

This could depend on what oil was used as some have much better boil off charactaristics than others so use less.
The other options are valve guide seals and poor oil control from the piston rings. If removing the breather hose from the air intake does the engine breath heavily.

I did check the level and it was spot on and a nice golden colour too?
The chap who serviced it only uses mb spec oil, I fear its a mechanical problem as you have mentioned : (
