2001 320 CDI s210 smells strange

Hello, when I start my s210 it smells strange, not a toasted smell.
It could be the catalyst?
V belt is ok.
Filters are all new except the active carbon, but the smell is out of the car.

Hi ya, two things that spring to mind, one is cat and some do really pong but the other is the particulate filter especially when or just after regen had took place and especially if it was wet and the roads were dirty which is all the time around here. Don't know if your car has one but my money would be on the cat

the car don´t have DPF and my cat is also alive, so I guess it might be or other cat or other thing. Thanks

Maybe worth a 'sniff' round the radiator and water circulation components, If you have even a slight slight coolant leak it does niff of a 'sweet antifreezey' smell. If there is a slight leak in the rad matrix, as the radiator warms it smells more until it evaporates off once fully warm, only to return as the cycle repeats.
