2001 CL55 AMG 355Bhp - Spares or Repair - or will break for engine & box
110,000 miles - believed genuine, MOT records back to 2005 back up mileage. Car had rear suspension issues, electrical gremlins and other issues. Will break car for decent offer on engine and gearbox, which are good. Mercedes Black Metallic. MOT Expired. CAT-C write off on history.
Bought the car 2 1/2 years ago because I really wanted a CL, my intention was to get it back into prime condition. Realistically this is not going to happen now and it is taking up space and has to go. Don't have pictures at present as it's under cover. I paid far more for the car than the condition dictated, so this is about selling/breaking to cut my losses. Viewing (socially distanced) by appointment, car is in Luton, Beds
I will sell the complete car to anyone who makes a sensible offer, or I will be happy to take the engine & gearbox out for a decent offer with deposit first. Until the engine & box is sold as one I will not be offering any other parts off the car until then, so please don't ask for parts.
Good points:
Sweet 5.4l M113 Normally Aspirated AMG engine
Good 5G gearbox
Nice sports exhaust (unkown make)
Drives like a CL55 AMG should, except for the rear suspension
Bad points includ:
Rear suspension issues, expect it will require new rear struts, as it bounces all over bumps in the road
Valve blocks let down when parked for more than a couple of days
Sunroof doesn't work, leaks,
Chip on windscreen
Drivers window delaminating
Drivers seat back has tear, I have a spare with the car.
MOT advisory on corrosion underneath (don't know where, you're welcome to come and look under it)
Various electrical gremlins including:
A/C doesn't work
Climate Control blows cold or hot only, doesn't regulate
Cruise control doesn't work
Passenger door wiring needs repairing
Windows don't drop when doors open/close
ICE unit is the troublesome Command 2.5 D2B units - the small screen type. CD Changer does work, but the head unit keeps cutting out.
