It's started to get a bubble under the drivers side wing and some on the rear wheel arch also the paint is starting to flake off on the front bumper underneath the headlight, I know this can be a bit of a bad point with Mercs of this age, has anyone had any luck with getting Mercedes to fix them as it is quite poor if the paints starting to go that quickly.

Does it have a FMBSH? If it does (though I may wrong), you might be able to get that done on anti rust perforation warranty, depending if its rusted from the inside out, or outside in if that makes sense.

I know for a fact that if my car for example, (2002 slk32AMG) starts to show signs of the dreaded worm, it's covered, though I have had it from new and it has a FMBSH for what it's worth. The CLK is the same but it's much newer, so obviously I wouldn't expect to se any sign of trouble.

Anyway it may be worth asking the question...:)

Thanks, it's got nearly full MB history except 1 from an indy specialist I don't know if I would get away with getting them to do it then :( the front wing is rusting from the inside out and the rear has a tiny little bubble starting on the outside in, I will try and take some pics of every bit I can find later and post it up.

8 years I think. for my '00 W208 they did it as a goodwill gesture and covered all costs. I did not have FMBSH but was using a very reuptable indy. I don't think the SH makes a difference to the rust and corrosion warranty as that is different to the parts warranty (3 years). Don't let it go on for too long - on mine the bubble was ~ 2cm at the rear arch on the outside, but was quite rusted to hell inside!

I had drivers rear arch of my 2001 CLK55 done as goodwill a couple of months back. Just a small bubble on the inside lip.

To qualify you need the following.

1) Have owned the car for 6 months or more

2) Have good service history, does NOT have to be MB (mine has 6 stamps, 4 MB and 2 Indi)

3) Car under 8 years of age

4) Paint depth must be under 100 Micros around the affected area. An assessor will measure before signing off on the work. If its had any accident damage the paint will probably be up in the 200 Microns.

Mine qualified no problem and the work was done ASAP with no quibble plus I was give a loan car FOC. Note they are very strict on the above criteria, Peterg1965 on here tried and his claim was turned down (they did offer to pay a share) because he had not owned the car 6 months.

My W203 C180 Avantgarde had rust on engine end of both rear wheel arches. Contacted main dealer - Beckenham Kent - took pics and emailed them. They agreed to carry out work under anti-corrosion warranty and did really good job, or so I thought. Just noticed rust reappearing and have contacted them again. Waiting for call back on what to do next.

From what I've read/heard, the contribution from MB is reducing from what was previously a typical 100% contribution, which is probably a reflection of the current economic climate.

Blame Crysler

You wanna see under the back of most W220 S class from the same year, NOT class at all in fact bloody horendous. Thin Crysler paint, crap metal and poor finish plagued all Crysler built fo MBz. My 13 year old S280 started going on the front wings only at 10 years old and then it took my neglect for it to spread about 15mm. I can live with that. New paint on wings and bumpers £600.

Thanks for the heads up, mine was registered in March 2001 so unfortunatly it just falls outside the 8 year cut off now, the paint isn't at all bad on most of the car, I might just pay to get it done myself:(

I would get it to them ASAP. You might be able to argue that the rust started before the 8 yr cut off point. I doubt they would pay 100% but they might offer a large percentage of it.
