Hi Guys,

looking for a bit of info for a neighbour, he was on the motorway the other day and the car lost most of its power and went into limp mode with the accompanying waring light on the dash - he has taken it to be checked and it it spat out P200B Bank 2/5 hot film mass air flow error code.

Upon doing a search it can relate to various things i.e faulty cats, MAF, o2 sensor.....

can anyone offer any advice on where to start, or would a clean of the MAF fix this??

He did state that it has been running a bit lumpy for a bit, but never acted like this previously

The car is a 2001 W210 E200 Kompressor Auto.

Many thanks in advance

Sam

stardiag first as it can be a lot of things.close to essex?

Check the engine wiring loom for oil contamination. Very common issue with those symptoms. A check with a Star and a live data check is in order.

Also there are some brass nozzles that block up and can cause engine breathing problems. The outcome can be a oil contaminated air mass sensor.

Sorry for delays, things cropped up and they came first - im not sure what system has been used to check the fault, is star diag a main dealer system??

Where abouts is this section of the wiring loom???? I dont want to start pulling plugs out that are not relevant - any pictures would be ideal :)
