2001 MERCEDES CL500 AUTO SILVER - BIN £4k

Swap the wheels for standard, and that's a good looking car for not much at all.

At least you've not paid out much for it.

Looks in reasonable shape.

Got to be worth a fair bit scrap in spares should the time bomb's time be up I would have thought.

At only £4k it should leave quite a fighting fund for repairs assuming someone might otherwise spend a lot more on the purchase price of an alternative (if such a thing exists).

what about this one!!!

i know its 1000 pounds more but it has only covered 55k and has full service history and you wont have the trouble of finding alloys for it which i guess they dont come cheap on a CL

lets face it 1000 pounds wont go to far if something goes wrong on these anyway!

2001 MERCEDES CL 500 AUTO WITH ONLY 54000 MILES | eBay

I cant understand people who put cheap chinese fake copy junk rubbish wheels on a car that weighs more than the moon.
Death trap.

whys the badge 500CL?

To match the "trying hard" personal number plate :wallbash:

oops answered already !

sorry guys missed the badge!!!! see i said it was a quick search :wallbash:

are you talking about the alloys on the first car or the one i posted?????? :dk:
On the first one I suspect, as the ones on the car you posted look genuine?

Hi everyone
just joined the forum as looking at getting one of these, anything i should look out for?

The only failsafe way is to get an MB indie to inspect for you, complicated and expensive air suspension when they go wrong will cost big time,of course you can check visualy to see if the car sits evenly, but scrutinise service records to see if it's had problems rectified.

Things to check.

Engine/Gearbox mounts.
Front lower ball joints.
Suspension struts.
Suspension Pump (get a pressure test if possible, should be 190-200psi).
Rust, rear arches, C-Pillar, Sunroof and bottom of doors.
COMAND Check all modules work.
Steering wheel buttons will be sticky and faded at 10 years
Front seat latches (to access rear seating), these become "clunky" and fail over time.
Soft-Close/Assist front doors and boot
Keyless buttons on Door handles fail regularly, check these work by pressing small black button on door handle.

Hope this helps.

Oh and also check read subframe bushes. These perish and make the car "wobble". And the pump can be checked with SDS to get a pressure reading. The pump should sound silent. Any whining or rattling then the pump is shot/kaput. HTH
