My dear wife managed to leave my ML270 with the lights on and flattened the battery.

She managed to get a jump start but now we have a strange problem - well two actually!

Firstly the “Low Coolant” warning light is always on even though there is plenty and

Secondly the heated seats will not come on. The lights flash for a few seconds and then go off but the seats never warm up.

Seems that something got zapped in the jump start.

Can this be reset? What do I do first and next?

Please help! All suggestions gratefully received!

Dave

has the battery charged fully? The heated seats will flash sometimes when there is not enough charge in the battery..

Thanks for your posting. In answer ... I am not sure ... I have taken the car on a couple of 100 mile plus runs since the jump start and it DOES start OK. However, the COMAND did power off yesterday which may indicate lack of volts! I was able to power it back on after I revved the engine a few times.

I am starting the suspect the fan control relay or similar as the car is getting VERY hot when in slow traffic (like all the time in London!).

Can the fan control relay be changed on its own? Anyone know?

Thanks,

Dave

Have you checked the maxi fuse right next to the battery? This is the fuse for the fan module.

The Fan module fuse is also linked with the heated seats. Check the fuse at the battery + plus terminal and there should be a fuse in a small inclosed clear housing. Check and it may be blown. If so replace it with the same ampage.

Thanks Smuggler and Mercedes Cozy. I found this fix through another MB forum site.

It was indeed the 75A fuse attached to the battery (MB PN 001721 will get you a new fuse and a new fibre nut - cost just under a fiver!).

Reading various fora about this it seems that some people have paid out megabucks for parts and labour to fix this simple problem!

Thanks again!

Hello there!!

Bit of an old thread however I have the EXACT same problem...

I've looked for this fuse in a clear cover next to the battery terminal but I can't find it at all?

Is there anyway someone could direct me towards it?

Many thanks in advance

I've had a look at the terminal and I don't see anything that looks like a fuse?

Unfortunately I don't have a photobucket account to upload a picture here however if we could exchange numbers over PM I could send you a picture that way? (this isn't a scam or a gay cruise, I can't see this bloody thing)

Found it I found it! The previous mechanice covered the terminals in grease...gonna source the part now...
