2001 w220 S320L AUTOMATIC 722.6 GEAR BOX FAULT
Hi, had a intermitant problem with my gearbox going into limp home mode (stuck in 3rd gear) that could be put right again just by stopping car and cycling ignition off and on again and all is ok till the next time it happens, to my amazement this did not bring on any warning lights, after getting codes read and cleared and waiting till it happened again for a code, it read a code in engine ecm p2066 fault is stored in component n15/3(etc control module(p0715)
Gearbox (etc contol module) 109 sporadically rpm sensor n3y3/611
The cause of these codes being generated were down to the coductor plate that the rpm sensor is part of (MB name it electrics kit ) inside gearbox,
I i did a lot of searching to obtain a new cheaper replacement but was advised to buy only genuine parts from MB so this was done along with new oil, filter and new multiplug as this leaks oil when disturbed,
Job done and all is well again,
