2001, w220, s320l fan noise behind dash panel

Hi, has anyone heard a fan running noise from behind dash panel it appears to come from n/s dash panel with heater off any pointer before i get into investigating it ????

My fathers 51 plate intermittantly does the same thing and has done for the last 6 years, Merc told him it's a complete replacement motor job so as it's not a major issue he's left it as is and it's never got any worse.

Have you got Comand? Could just be a noisy comand unit fan.

The Comand unit is the radio, nav, cassette unit is that right ??? did not know there was a fan inside this unit, would you or anyone else know if there is a fan for pulling cabin air over in-car temp sensor for climate control even if heater /air con is in off position ????

Well i must say a bit disappointed on the response i have had with with feedback, sometime in November i am going to start pinpointing this noise and posting findings, so if anyone interested watch this space.

Found the noise

Hi Investigated this noise again as it has been quite for a while the reason for this is only apparent first thing in morning when cold in cold weather conditions, the noise was not coming from behind dash it was coming from motor built into roof interior light console for a/c in car temperature sensor.
