Hi all,
I have had a leak from the diesel fuel pump and have spent all weekend trying to cure it with a seal kit etc. I finally gave up and purchased a new diesel pump today. I have fitted it this evening and now she won't start up. The car started all weekend but won't start this evening after replacing the pump. The diference therefore is the disconnection of the diesel supply and return pipes and now it won't start.
Do I have to bleed the system or is there something else I need to do to get it to start?

Possibly might need to prime the pump first?..........or just lots of cranking, these systems are 'self bleeding'

I had a transit 06 always always had to fill the filter then let it settle a few mins and fill again until the level stopped dropping. On my v220 i opened all injectors and cranked a few times. checked that diesel was at all pipes then closed them and it started pretty quick

Thanks guys. Sorry for the delay in replying but due to inclement conditions, (*issing down) I have not touched the car. So with all your help I will hopefully get it started tonight and be back on the road. I will update you on how it goes. Have a good day,

Disaster!
Replaced the fuel pump as above. Continued to have problems strating the car. The starter circuit fuse, (15A) blew. I replaced it but it blew again after further attempts to start the car. Now all the electrics have shutdown! The key will not go into the ignition, the locks do not work, nothing!! I am really struggling to know what to do next. I cannot even tow the the car as the steering is locked. Help!! Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

I'm not a techie, but you've possibly blown a master fuse somewhere....no doubt somebody qualified will be along soon. good luck

Better start with why the key wont go in, no fuse is going to stop that going in is it ? Maybe your ignition is stuck a bit from all the cranking. Shove a bit of WD40 into it. Maybe your ignition barrel is slightly faulty too and thats causing the fuses to blow ? I can't really think of any other reason. I got a WIS/ASRA dvd set from e-bay a bit tricky to use/install but it did work very well. There you will have all that merc dealers have. I think it was about 8 quid. Copies of course but it worked.

Is that a c270 or something, i'm only a newish merc owner and you see it's not a normal type either. Does your key not have a normal metal piece then ??

Im not sure if it is the same on the sports coupe but as Danny mentioned, you should have a slide out emergency key. This is inside your infra-red unit, same key that you use for glove box.
