ML270 cdi
Hi

Would appreciate some advice/assistance

Have just acquired an 02 ML270cdi. On start up the low range light flashes several times on the dash before going out.

A friend connected a diagnostic reader which came back with the following codes. Would be grateful if anyone can advise if these are connected to the low range system or relate to other areas of the vehice.

P2600 - Circuit 87 Voltage too low

P2602 - Voltage Supply of valves is faulty

P2502 - Gear Implausible or Tranmission Slipping.

Thanks

Marc

Low range solenoid a playing up. That's if it runs on a vacume solenoid based system. If not please ignore this advice.

I've not had this myself but have seen it's reasonably common.
If your lucky then the low range thing can be explained and fixed quickly following the below procedure . ( copied from elsewhere). If that doesn't work then it may be that the high/low range swap motor is dead, quite often fill with water and rust up internally ( especially if rarely used), so you may need to source a replacement from a breakers yard ( new will be expensive) but it's allegedly a pretty easy item to replace if your half handy with the tools.

Do some searching on google and you should find plenty of posts about this issue.

Fingers crossed it's just stuck through lack of use and the following does the trick.

Remember when you do it, the gear selector needs to be in Neutral for the high low range swap to be done.

All the best.

What usually happens is the Low Range feature is rarely used and the motor becomes dormant and needs a little help to get started.

You will need two people to try this. Chock two wheels and set the emergency brake and follow instructions for activating the Low Range. With you under the truck, have someone push the switch and then you tap the motor a few times with a light hammer. This might have to be done a few times to get it going.
