2003 E320 CDI S210 running problems

what colour? after a passenger front wing (silver)

Silver.

Passenger front wing is rust free. 1 tiny dent (Size of 10p coin - will bang out) but has superficial scratches so would need some attention - you're welcome to it if you want it. Make me an offer - no reasonable offer refused!

located in Scottish Borders.

Cheers.

Quick question: why are you breaking the car?
Do you have a rear drinks holder? mines a 7 seater so has fold down drinks holders in the boot - one is busted.
Hopeless at judging value of second hand parts - how much you want for the wing?

Hi.

Yes I do have one. Two infact, have both sides!

Which side would you like?

Txt me on the number that was here before I edited it out!

And we can discuss money out of the public domain!

not handed either side will do!! :-)

Story so far:
Replaced (all needed doing anyway):
6 glow plugs
Repaired blown link in Glow Plug relay
New Pierburg Air Mass Sensor
Oil and Filter change
Stripped and checked turbo operation
Gutted precat - flowed OK but surface heavily worn away
Both other cats OK
Cleaned out EGR and checked operation
Fitted EGR mod anyway (resister and diode mod)
New thermostat

Left battery off over night - reset windows etc

Only thing I haven't changed is the diesel filter, air filter like new.

Car now drives further than before, but still goes into limp mode - resets on restart, then back in to limp etc etc

Running at correct temperature, no glow plug warning light anymore.

Still loath to spend money on Star diags - rather have funds for parts!

But heading towards a diag :-(

No DTC's recorded, none pending - tried all sorts of OBD readers - live data all looks OK, temperatures, air flow and boost pressures look OK

Love to crack this without spending diag money...any ideas????

no one local to me in Cornwall can do a scan for £25, all local indies quote £50 plus VAT - which to me, is a fair lump of cash.

It is but if it says your widgety sprocket is broken it will solve your problem rather thank changing what may be good parts.......

indeedy that would be the case, just hate being beaten by electronic gubbins.

Yes but you drive a car with an ecu which some clever german designed to tell you what is wrong with it.

It is not a mid 80s car with a carb and manual windows.

Bought a carsoft package 7.4.

Gives me the following codes:
P1481 Glow Plug Failure
P1470 Boost Pressure control vacuum transducer

I have fitted all new glow plugs to the car, just metered them at the plug that plugs in to the control relay, all at 0.8 ohms apart from one at 4.4 ohms. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the glow plug harness? So I can trace the wiring back to the offending glow plug.

Any ideas on the P1470 error code?

How about disconnecting the injectors one by one. When you have three injectors at the correct resistance and one at infinity, that's the one.

Pulled the damn things out.

Out of the six new glow plugs, 4 are OK, 1 is open circuit and one is heating up by the body of the glow plug and not the tip.

Been in about 3 weeks.

What is it with these cars???
