Hi
had a chat with a merc specialist today regarding the on going problems with my car.

He suggested that I check out the vacuum control system for the EGR valve and turbo actuator.

My car is fine until it operates one of the above, so either the vacuum itself is collapsing when its asked to supply vacuum to operate stuffs, or the vacuum valves themselves are not working correctly (very common failure apparently)

The EGR valve I can eliminate by fitting the EGR delete mod, and then blanking off the vacuum valve. The turbo VNT control valve - not sure what to do with this - maybe replace it? Is there anyway of testing this by observation when revving the engine and looking at what is going on?

Can't help with the EGR as, touch wood, haven't encountered this one yet. But I can with the turbo. If you look over the driver side wing and look under the air filter box and down to the turbo, you'll easily see the actuator in the centre of the turbo to the engine side. If you rev the engine reasonably hard but briskly, you'll be able to see the actuator lever moving as it adjusts the turbo vanes. The vacuum doodah is lower down beneath the turbo and there's obviously a vacuum pipe connected to it.

Hope that helps a bit.
