2003 SL 500 Tonneau flaps

Hello, I would be grateful for any advice from members of MBclub. I have a much loved 2003 SL 500. The little flaps on the folding roof tonneau have broken. I know this is a well documented problem. Last year I purchased a repair kit online with 3-D printed hinges which only works if the flap hinge mechanism is intact. However my local independent garage says the problem now is with the flaps, which are broken and need to be replaced. MB UK will only sell the flaps with the adjacent trim work at an astronomical price. Any advice is much appreciated.

We have been here a few times with the modded part and not been very successful. You might have to bite the bullet and get the flaps from Merc.
