2003 sl55 keyless go failure

So the Key Card does not work. After checking with STAR diagnostics, all antennas are working & even both LEDs on key card light when communicating with STAR; start on shifter also works but it still won't start from there, only starts with key fob in the ignition.

Now assuming best course of action, is buy another remote. Question; I have been told that Key Cards are not as reliable & Mercedes made the key fob incorporated with Keyless Go, will this work on this car instead of buying another key card??

There still is another twist to this mystery, the key fob only works with Infra Red & not radio frequency!

Really need some help on this before spending a small fortune!?

I use a 'normal' key with the keyless go function. Works great.

Dealer supply and code only I believe, in the region of £300.

What year & model do you have; also did you by the car with this 'normal' key??

Mine is a S class ,but it's the same key and system.

Key came with the car.

Yep, December 2003.
