Picked up a 2004 w211 E55 last Tuesday from a pleasant independent dealer, quickars.co.uk; nice chap called Colin. He seems to have played a straight bat so far, as an Independent Mercedes service centre in Gloucester has confirmed some of the work Colin said had been done. I have named her Roni, short for Veronica.

The independent in Gloucester put 'Roni' on the diagnostics machine and the only fault was regarding the tyre pressure monitoring valves, or lack of :).

On inspection they noted:

O/S/F Lower Joint New but gaiter adrift.
Both Front Torque Arms Worn, Joints and bushes.
Slight leak on Cam Cover, left-hand bank.
N/S/F Tyre worn on inner edge

She has 137,000 miles on the clock, and seems to have spent her early years bouncing between MB Derby, MB Beaconsfield, and MB Loughborough; before making her way to MB Bath. She settled in Gillingham for some time being looked after by an independent, TJS Service Centre. Lots of receipts here, give me some confidence she's been looked after. Quickars claim to have carried out a gearbox service, as it was due at 140k and replaced two front struts with Arnott brand. The struts have been verified by the Gloucester independent.

Bad bits:

She's had a new offside front door and it doesn't match :(
Stone chips all over the bonnet
Shifting is great in a straight line, but on overtakes it can be unpredictable, especially in sport mode.
Cant see the AirMatic moving massively, it moves but nothing to write home about.
She's sitting on Nexen's

Good bits:

She goes like stink
She's subtle but brutish when you want her to be :)
Keyless go, Comand and HKL7 all working flawlessly
Only the tyre pressure warning on dash :)

Anyone know her?

Good choice.

Don't know the car nor recognise the plate so doubt I've seen it before.

That OS front door is indeed miles out - needs a re-paint and blending really if you care enough.

Seems to be in good shape though so enjoy it... they are amazing cars.
