Any Body else with views pls

There is no point in guessing. Get it on a Star asap. This should pick up which cylinder is causing the fault

Hi been to a garage and its seems to be number 4, they have swopped coils around and it still does it ,so not the coils.
If you run the engine for 10mins its back(firing only on 3 cylinders), turn off the engine turn it back on its ok for 10mins again then the fault is there. so heat is not causing the problem
Anybody else had this problem this is going to cost me a bom, the other half told me not buy this estate and i should have stuck with my jag estate.
But because i have clk cab no problems in 12 months thought i would buy a mercedes estate.......:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

As Olly says, you should really get it plugged into a Star Machine (diagnostic)

Do a compression test and compare all 4 cylinders. The garage should do this anyway.

Has nobody else ever had this problem car as only done 67,311 miles. Im the second owner, since i have had it i have only used v-power petrol and has never been driven hard , the most speed i have done is about 110mph sshhhhh, im not a speed man.........

I've not heard of this problem on w203s no... sorry.

had similar, assuming your engine is a 271. Turned out to be a burnt valve.

I would expect a burnt valve to cause no-compression all the time, but from the posts above I understand that the car sometimes runs on all 4-cylinders? And if the coil pack has been swapped, could it be injector problem?

At any rate I agree that a code reader at least or MB Star at best is needed.

The valves might not be burnt but sticking. Carbon build up on the stems can cause this. Usually happens to lower milage cars that go to the shops twice a week and don't get to full running temp enough to burn it off. I did hear about a special additive you can get but I would need to check. Best to get a proper diagnosis first .

Hi Simon, did you ever resolve this problem ? reason being I am having the exact problem with my clk kompressor 2004

You'l need to have the car scanned for codes . The missfire could be as simple as a coil pack but it could be a burnt or stickin valve or even the timing chain stretching , although another potential reason for the missfire could be oil leaking from the rocker cover and collecting around the plug .
