I did read some where, many moons ago that its a 2 piece assembly. The idea was that a damaged 'skin' could be replaced quite 'economically' as it was an off roader. The posters comment not mine, and most seemed to agree at the time.
It was some time ago and it was on a specialist ML offroad website either Aus or USA, but thats what I read. I am unsure to what exact terms and to what extent 'economical' to replace will run to, but perhaps its worth a bit of research. You have probably already done this, but it was worth a mention.
Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. I guess it all boils down to what you call economical really I can buy the part from MB for £399+VAT but then it obviously needs fitting, spraying, parking sensors drilled & fited (I have aftermarket and not Parktronic). So, all in, it's going to cost a tidy sum to replace the bumper, so was looking to cut costs as much as possible. It just seems everyone who smashes an ML must do so front-first, as there are loads of rear bumpers on your favourite auction site, just no front ones
