I replaced my Comand unit with a used unit about a year ago. While trying to set the clock yesterday I noticed some strange things.

1. The fan seems to run constantly even if the car has been off for a while.

2. I can power up the unit without the key being inserted.

3. I cannot get into the menu that shuts off daylight savings either with the GPS locked up or not.

I have a 2003 SL55 and my unit car power up without the key.

Seems like an odd feature. I left the window open to hear the fan and it never seems to turn off. I also lost the menu for changing time zone and country and the GPS does not seem to control the clock anymore. The unit seems to work fine other than that. I replaced the aux battery recently. This all started because the "Daylight Savings" dates are wrong in the unit and the clock is wrong for a few months a year.

I confirmed with a friends 2003 SL500 that her Comand will power up without a key. Very strange.

Does anyone why the menu for selecting country would grey out and not be available?

Anyone know why my Comand fan never seems to shut off? I left the car sit for two days and the fan never shut off. Does it turn on when the car door is opened?
