2005 CLK280 burning smell/smoke

I recently got a 2005 clk280 and after having it a week the engine management light came on. A couple of times I have pulled into the garage and smelt a burning smell. this morning when I got to work there was the smell againa nd smoke coming out under the drivers side of the front bumper by the fog lights. Does anybody know what this could be????

Probably a dead animal, the front of mine looked like a nesting site when I brought it.

But get ti checked by a garage as the last thing you want is for it to catch fire while driving or just parking it back in the garage.
