I have bought a cls and am after some coilovers and some nice staggered 20” wheels. Does anyone have any ideas the best place to go for coilovers and any wheel ideas that would suit. I’m after a machined face finish for that super clean look, I’ve been looking at 3sdm 0.04.
Thanks

Hi,I have 18”amg alloys on my cls and the ride comfort is good(on springs),I previously had a cls with 19” amg’ son airmatic which was very comfortable,I would be wary of running 20’s on springs as the ride comfort will be compromised-hope that helps.

Can't help you with coilovers but I ran 20" wheels on my old CLS (W219) without an issue. It was on airmatic though (11j rear and 9j fronts).

Am also running 20" on my current CLS (W218) which is on H&R uprated lowered springs, (10.5j rear and 9j fronts) without an issue.

You will need to run a 25 profile rear and a 30 front. Tyre width is preference (obv within fitment range) my old one I ran 295 rears whereas I have now opted for 305s.

thanks again
Ryan

There is a thread on here somewhere, a member carried out what you are trying to achieve with a silver CLS 55. Coilovers and 20" wheels.

Will see if I can find it.

I have a non airmatic car and was wondering where the best place to get coilovers from ? I tried BC and they said they do not make them for the W219 but do for the 218
Thanks

Finally got down to get the car and have found out it is on air suspension, I’ve heard there’s ways of lowering them .. can anyone help

You have a few options...

1) Get it lowered on STAR (this may be limited to a certain drop) Around 1hrs labour from an indy. No parts to fit all done via star.

2) Use lowering links (these can be a royal PITA to get set up correctly) inexpensive and lots of sources to purchase from:
https://www.airmatic-lowering-links.co.uk/

3) A lowering module with remote (allows a max drop of 2" and can be controlled via a small hardwired remote within the vehicle to achieve your desired height or switch it off and car returns to factory settings)
The most flexible but the most expensive option.

Hello,

Has your 2005 cls 350 had the balance shaft issue or any other major problems? Please advise.

Thank you
