2005 German 'Autobahn Adventure' - Brabus Factory and Nürburgring

What is the total mileage on this trip likely to be? I need to see if me and the car will be able to cope.

I'm guessing somewhere around 650 - 850 miles, however I could be wrong. Scott or one of the other lads maybe able to help. We're not going to Stuttgart this time, which is further than Brabus, so the drive home will be more managable.

Thanks for that. Will have to do some calculations.

BTW: Will the CL have arrived for the trip?

Can I come please, I'd love to spend several days debating with Pammy. What speeds do you intend examining? as she who must be obeyed doesnt like excessive speeds (a blindfold could be ok). What dates, and where would we be staying? We wouldnt drive the ring, but i will bring the camera and take some pics.

I found that the best way to deal with this is was to give my wife a camera, and ask her to concentrate on pointing it at the speedo and taking some piccies .... takes their mind off the speed :D

OK, so maybe not !!

Hope you can join us !

Well if it's anything like the last trip, depending upon traffic conditions anywhere between 90 to 120 mph for the bulk of the autobahn trip but a few of us dallied around the 140mph mark ;)

I too said that I wouldn't drive the 'Ring ;) but once there it was an opportunity too good to miss  :D Best 14 Euros I've spent. I'd certainly drive the ring again, you don't have to tackle it flat out.

Ring is what you make of it. Buses full of people drive around it, so don't be worried about your speed. There are a few basic rules which must be obeyed, to keep everyone safe. I feel that you will have missed out on something amazing if you dont try it once.

If anyone here fancies a pax lap - just ask. Happy to scare the absolute hell out of you, whilst demonstrating the joy of MB traction control used with 18"s and 19"s.

I managed 130mph at one stage on the last trip, but I seem to remember most driving being around the 100-110 mark. Planning for much faster this time, up the front with Maff's V8 somewhere.....

Let's take the train again, as I have taken the boat once now and really hate it alot. The panic of watching over your car while others park 6 inches away is too much for me to bear.

There is a deal with the tunnel for members of the other MB Club

Speeds can be really what you want. My father and his friend averaged about 80mph so thats not too bad.

As per the last trip, i'll more than likley organise a group booking with Eurotunnel which gets us a discount anyway. (Same with the hotels etc which ill sort nearer the time when we know the numbers).

Cheers Maff - that's brill.

One question Sym - if wifey - ie me - has to hold the camera to catch the speed on the dials - how's the car going to be steered :D  Can we rephrase to the one who isn't driving gets to do the David Bailey bit :D

I was purely advising Pietre on his specific situation :p ... Of course, if you can drag your hubby from under the seat, I'm sure he'd love to take some piccys too :D

Fingers crossed should be here in three weeks time :bannana:

Depending on your preferences, I promise/promise not to get really drunk and bring random people back to the hotel to drink cocktails at my expense. I will/will not engage staffmembers in furniture moving exercises. I will/will not get way to drunk and run around the corridors like a madman and take pics.

Honestly, it's been a long time since I have had that much to drink. I am sure that Stuttgart Police have pics of Ben and I to try and keep us out. The people at the reception desk gave us very strange looks as we checked out.

I wonder if Ben still had spaghetti on his face? Maybe the cleaners advised them of the spaghetti on the ceiling.

My head hurts thinking about this! I'll have to get some pics out and post them.

I think that if we go I should shave my head and get a light brown greatcoat, and I can then do an Uncle Fester for Pammy, and we could discuss Morticia's hairdo, and all things battleship grey!!!!! Looking forward to some great debating over a convivial dram or several. Hope things work out so we can go. If you give me the numbers I can check on Eurotunnel prices via the Mercedes Benz Club UK for a comparrison.

Just seen this. I may be interested in going after all I could take the Brabus home.
It all depends on dates

I very much hope you can make it. That would be awesome. Have a poke around in their store room and see what 190 parts they have left!
