I wondered if anyone can help
I looked at 2 2006 CLK's yesterday whilst they where registered only 3 months apart there where slight differences the newer one had the new style key with a silver edge and a different style antenna on the roof even though it did not have a phone or command
I wondered if there where any more changes I am not familier with this model
Look forward to hearing

As far as I'm aware, the 209 was facelifted in 2005. The rear lights are different, easiest way to tell them apart quickly.

I was wondering a similar question earlier but can't find a good source of info on the net.

Is the following correct?

DVD Command arrived in W209 CLKs from around Jun 04, but before the facelift?
Facelift sometime in 2005 (which month?) - changes to lights etc. What other key changes occured?
CLK55 got facelift at same time (?), and also got 4 exhaust pipes at the same time? Any other changes?

Thanks

D2B pre facelift & MOST after facelift

220CDi engine added at facelift, June 2005?

I thought the facelift came out around mid/late 2004

Facelift W209

A while ago there was some discussion on the facelift 209s. I think somebody said VIN starting at 805 (??) but can't be sure.

I too would like to know when Mercs started making things properly again after the Reign of the Beancounters.

Would love to hear comments on the W209 CLK 270 CDi...

PS Present W202 220 CDi is turning into Mercedes-Oxide at an alarming rate.

First shown at March 2005 Geneva Motor Show as far as I can tell.

That's odd because we have just spent a while looking for and purchasing a W209.....I saw several late 2004 models that defiantly had the facelift interior, comand etc. The earliest car I saw which had the facelifted interior (and, I presume, exterior etc) was a CLK500 convertible which, from memory, was first registered in June 2004....this was also fitted with the 7 speed auto box

June 04 is approximately the facelift point on the CLK. They changed over to MOST so Comand DVD was available, Upper switch panel changed to square shaped switches on the inside aswell.

Not sure how?
As far as I know the facelifted CLK was launched with the new diesel engines, 320 & 220 CDi's, both only available from 2005 on. Same time as the 270CDi engine was dropped & that is a pre facelift model.

I think the point is that the interior update and "real" facelift happened at different times.

I suspect one reason might be that they wanted to put the new DVD nav in which accelerated the interior new button interior refresh, which happened in early 2004, whereas the "true" facelift, with new bumpers etc. happened over a year later.

New question though - do W209s rust like W208s? Are all W209s "better" in this respect, or are later ones better still? Or would a 2003 CLK W209 be in rust limbo - it might, it might not!?!
